What, when, where in SW1

About us

South Westminster Action Network (SWAN) operates as a social enterprise facilitating active citizenship and aims to improve services for residents living in SW1. It brings together statutory, voluntary and business sectors to work together to provide more opportunities for residents most in need. From within the structure of The Abbey Centre, SWAN continues the spirit of the South Westminster Renewal Partnership by facilitating strong partner networks along with delivering a unique programme of resident and community engagement.

Some examples of things that SWAN has been involved in over the past few years include:

  • Developing a Neighbourhood Renewal Strategy setting out priorities for improving SW1
  • Developing and promoting the Wedge Card which is a new way for residents to get discounts, savings and special offers from local shops and independent businesses across London. www.wedgecard.co.uk/victoria
  • Ongoing work to raise awareness of proposed development plans including Chelsea Barracks, Victoria Transport Interchange and Westminster Theatre in Palace Street and to lobby for more community benefit from the development proposals.
  • Supporting SouthWestFest, SW1 Radio and community events like Winter Festivals, greening workshops, community lunches, inter-generational projects and local employment sessions.
  • Producing community newsletters, introducing a Neighbourhood Champions scheme and holding regular Community Forum Lunches.
