The Queen Mother Sports Centre is SW1’s only dedicated sports centre. It has a swimming pool, gym, aerobics and fitness sessions and a sports hall available for hire for team sports. Concessions are available for people on low incomes, and with a ResCard – savings are available on swimming, aerobics and gym sessions.

The Abbey Centre is a thriving local community centre that offers a range of services to the local community. Sports and physical activities offered here include yoga, aerobics, tai chi, line dancing and exercise sessions for the over 50s.

Westminster Adult Education Service offers a range of adult education classes, including sports and fitness opportunities in SW1 and across the city. Some courses take place in community venues in SW1, including Abbey Community Centre. These courses include yoga, fitness, tai chi and salsa; and are either free or offered at very competitive rates. Westminster Boating Base is a charity operating on the River Thames in SW1 that teaches young people and adults to canoe, sail and kayak. Sessions run throughout the week and the organisation also runs summer trips in the UK and Europe. There is a charge for adult sessions and annual youth (under 24 years of age) membership is available for a donation to the charity.
