Safer Neighbourhood Teams provide local policing, with police and partners working with residents, to identify and tackle issues of concern in neighbourhoods.
Each ward in SW1 has a team of Police and Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs). Their aim is to listen and talk to residents, and find out what affects their daily life and feelings of security. The Westminster Senior Citizens Forum, is a citywide group for all older people which meets approximately every six 6 weeks to discuss issues that are of importance to life in Westminster. The Senior Passport service provides access to Westminster City Council’s Social Services Teams for Older People. The service provides access to social care services and the Westminster Rehabilitation Service for older people and their carers. It can also provide information and advice about a range of services including the Keep Warm Keep Well initiative, Heatwave advice, the Message in a Bottle scheme and Disabled Facilities Grants.

Telephone advice information and assistance for people who have a housing problem, are in housing need or are facing homelessness. Issues dealt with include housing rights, harassment, illegal eviction, rent and mortgage arrears, housing benefit and domestic violence.
Sheltered housing schemes give older people the privacy of a flat or bed-sit with the reassurance that a scheme manager is based on-site. Some extra help is available, such as the emergency Link Line alarm service, and shared facilities such as laundry rooms and communal lounges. Supported housing is similar but the level of support available from the scheme manager is more limited. If you are on a low income you can get free legal advice here on Tuesday and Thursday evenings 6.30 - 8.00. Legal advice is provided by volunteer solicitors and barristers on areas such as housing, landlord and tenant issues, consumer problems, personal injuries, immigration and employment.
