Not everyone’s eyes will turn to the football World Cup and you could be forgiven for wanting to escape the talk of corner kicks and penalties to enjoy a relaxing football-free afternoon. And what better way to escape the frenzy than at free outdoor screenings of the world’s favourite tennis tournament? As part of its Great British Summer season, Land Securities is bringing Murray Mania back to the centre of the Capital with screenings of Wimbledon at Cardinal Place in Victoria, Bankside Mix in Southwark and New Street Square in Holborn.
Sit back and relax on the Great British Summer deckchairs, while watching all the action on screens installed in specially customised Great British Summer caravans. And because it’s completely free, whatever the highs or lows, there’s no better place to escape the queues of SW19 and enjoy a quintessential British pastime.
Even if Wimbledon now has a roof, if rain stops viewing there’s no need to hide under your brolley as the mix of shops, bars and restaurants at each of the three locations means there’s plenty to keep everyone happy.
And if tennis isn’t quite your thing then don’t despair as this year’s Great British Summer promises to provide a host of fun for all the family. As well as Wimbledon there will also be screenings of the one day cricket internationals and county games, a kid film screening at Cardinal Place and a programme of summer film nights - there’s no better place to relax and enjoy the summer in the heart of the city.
